About Riding Tales: Who We Are

riding Tales is a collection of stories, experiences and Guides about exploring places near and far with travel-friendly bikes. From small wheels to big wheels, a bike that can fit in a suitcase is a bike that you can always take anywhere with you!

Not everyone can traverse the globe all year round, and we recognize that there are many different ways to explore. We hope that this site will inspire others to find their own unique way of answering their wanderlust for faraway lands, the need for adventure, or a brief escape from the mundane. The world is your oyster, as they say, and it is ultimately a personal decision which direction one will go. (Although it's more fun with bikes.)

Nadiah Aziz - editor in Chief

Nadiah was born in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, but enjoyed cycling as a child growing up in the once sleepy suburban town of Bandar Baru Bangi, in the western state of Selangor. She stopped cycling as adolescent life took precedence over physical activities over the years, but took it up again after reconnecting with her childhood passion for exploring by bike. A former broadcast journalist by trade, Nadiah now resides in KL city and is now a full time digital content creator after two years with Cycling Plus Malaysia magazine.

Ekaputra Jabar - Managing editor

Ekaputra grew up in the United States, eventually moving back to Malaysia after 20 years. A former mountain biker in Portland, Oregon, he enjoyed many off road adventures in the Pacific Northwest, as well as urban commutes in the City of Roses. Ekaputra has since settled into work life in Kuala Lumpur, where he is focused on software product management. He resides with his wife (psst, it's Nadiah) and three cats, and is now a part of the capital’s growing cycling culture.

Awesome Contributors

Maya Aziz grew up in the suburbs of Bandar Baru Bangi in Selangor, Malaysia, where cycling was a huge part of her childhood with her three rambunctious brothers. She remembers fondly days of two-wheeled adventures after school, and exploring the local landscape. Originally a roadie, Maya moved to Singapore for work more than ten years ago, and now divides her love between her travel road bike and her folding bike - though it's no secret she favours her travel bike a fair bit these days.
